The AAU Faculty Online Modular Training (FOMT) is scheduled for 4th June 2020 to 27th August 2020.  This online teaching modular training is targeted at all academics in African Universities to help them enhance their skills in online and remote teaching and learning.

SYNCHRONOUS AND ASYNCHRONOUS TOOLS IN ONLINE TEACHING AND LEARNING

This webinar introduces participants to the use of synchronous and asynchronous tools in online teaching and learning and discusses the merits and demerits of each.

Synchronous interaction occurs when the instructor and students participate in real time in the online classroom.  Teaching and learning occur at precisely the same time. Asynchronous interaction occurs when the instructor and the students do not interact directly and employ time-delayed tools to facilitate teaching.

These tools allow users to quickly capture screenshots of a selected region, window, or entire screen. Such tools allow users to record lectures directly from their computer, without additional classroom equipment. The webinar examiners several screen casting tools such as screencast-o-matic, TechSmith Camtasia tools, and others

SOCIAL BOOKMARKING TOOLS

 

Also known as folksonomy, collaborative tagging, or social indexing, it is a way for people to store, organize, search, and manage “bookmarks” of web pages. These bookmarks are usually public and can be viewed by other members of the site where they are stored. The webinar introduces participants to several social bookmarking tools such as Digg, Diigo, Delicious, and others.
